A weekend getaway

We decided to get away this weekend (my 26th birthday -eek- is Wednesday), so we headed to Asheville. Rob booked a place to stay, and surprised me. We pulled up to a lot of log cabins, and I got excited. Yup, we stayed in a one room log cabin. It's called Log Cabin Court, and its a group of about 20 log cabins that were built in 1929. I've always been enamored with log cabins (maybe I played with too many Lincoln Logs as a kid?), so it was a neat experience.

We stayed in the "Snuggle Inn"

Rob said we he called to reserve the lady made sure to tell him "Now these aren't luxury accommodations, these are log cabins, built in 1929" when he told her he was from Raleigh.

I loved this old dresser, with the daffodil in the vase.

We also had a chance to go to a bakery (Icing on the Cake) near Asheville and taste cake for the wedding. It was delicious! And she took every little thing that we liked from all the pictures we brought, and incorporated them into our cake. We ended up choosing 3 flavors, because we couldn't make up our minds! So we've officially found our baker!

It rained the whole time we were there so we spent some time relaxing in the cabin and driving around exploring. We found some great local places to eat. My favorite was the Moose Cafe. It was at the Western NC Farmer's Market, so everything was from local farms. We also went to the Tupelo Honey Cafe, and Early Girl Eatery, which I had been wanting to go to ever since I saw it on $40 a day on the Food Network.

We headed back early in the afternoon on Sunday because it started snowing pretty hard (out of nowhere!) and we didn't want to get stuck. It was so nice to just get away for a couple of days though, and we've decided to do it more often. It's back to the real world tomorrow!
